SQUAD DESCRIPTIONS

Squad members are able to swim basic freestyle with correct breathing technique for 25m as well as backstroke for 25m. Swimmers will learn tumble turns, breaststroke and be introduced to butterfly in preparation for joining the Junior Squad. Squad members are required to attend 3 sessions each week. All members of this squad are invited to join Seahorses Swimming Club on Friday nights.

  • Minimum Sessions 2 sessions midwek
  • OR 1 session on Saturdays only
  • All swimmers are encouraged to swim more sessions.
  • To have their own own flippers
2 or 3 x sessions p/week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday afternoons – 3.15 pm – 4.00pm
1 x session p/week Saturday morning – 10.00 am – 10.40 am

Minis squad swimmers will also be required to have flippers.  These can also be purchased at any swimming store i.e Rebel, Kmart, Big W, Aqua shop in Gordon or online.  Our coaches recommend these style of flippers:

This squad is for swimmers who have achieved a degree of water competence and wish to progress stroke and fitness level. To advance to Intermediate Squad swimmers must be able to swim 100m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and 50m butterfly. Squad members are required to attend a minimum of 2 sessions each week. All members of this squad are invited to join Seahorses Swimming Club on Friday night.
  • Minimum Sessions – 2-3 x sessions midweek in the afternoons
  • Or 1 session on Saturday only.

  • All swimmers are encouraged to swim more sessions.
  • To have their own own flippers

This squad introduces children to a higher level of training intensity and is held in the mornings.

Emphasis is on strong and correct technique and endurance. During the training sessions, children are introduced to different swimming sets. To advance to these squads children should be able to swim 100m of each stroke, complete 200 IM and complete starts and turns in all stokes. This squad is for swimmers aiming to be competitive at the school swimming carnival. Swimmers are required to attend minimum 3 sessions per week. All members of this squad are invited to join Seahorses Swimming Club on Friday nights.

Minimum Sessions – 3 x session midweek in the mornings

Or 1 session on Saturday only

All swimmers are encouraged to swim more sessions.

To have their own own flippers

This squad introduces children to the world of competitive swimming. Training intensity is increased. Emphasis is on strong and correct technique.   • All swimmers are encouraged to swim more sessions.
  • To have their own own flippers and paddles.
  • 10 years and over – option of afternoon sessions

The Competition Squad targets squad swimmers who have the potential to perform at a high level and show commitment to be competitive at school swimming carnivals (zone, area and state) and beyond. The Competition Squad will be held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (including dryland training 5.20 pm – 7.30 pm) and Friday evenings 5.15 – 6.30pm. Swimmers will be introduced and trained in competitive swimming.

Swimmers 9 years and over are required to join Swimming NSW to compete at external meets and are expected to attend Seahorses Swim Club on Friday nights. Inclusion in the Competitive  Squad is at the discretion and invitation of the coaches.

Requirements:

  • A minimum 4 sessions per week
  • Swim at Seahorses Club Nights in Terms 1 and 4
  • Swim the whole season (August to May)
  • They are expected to swim off season
  • Provide their own flippers and paddles
  • Required to join Swimming NSW to compete externally

This is a squad level for ex-students who were at senior level who are no longer with LPS but wish to continue with thier swimming.

Swimmers have the option of swimming in the Ex-students squad only on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday evenings 6.30 pm – 7.30 pm or Saturday mornigns at 6.45 am – 7.45 am.

For ex-students to swim in the Competition Squad is at the discretion of the coach.

  • To have their own own flippers
2 – 4 sessions p/week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday afternoons – 6.30 pm – 7.30 pm

Saturday – 6.45 am – 7.45 am

The adult squad program runs at this stage on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5.45 am for 1 hour each session. It is up to you if you want to do one or all days.  The cost is $15 per session and is billed for the whole term upfront.
You need to be a competent swimmer and be able to swim roughly 2-3 kms (fins ok to use as well).  The coaches will work on a range of drills, technique, sprint, distance and general swimming fitness.

Timetable – Term 1 – 2025

This timetable will remain in place until the end of Term 1 – 2025.  Term 1 will recommence on Monday, 3 February 2025 and run till Saturday, 12 April 2025.

We will have limited availability and priority will be given to current/regular/holiday program and competitive swimmers who are committed to the program and the number of sessions required.

If you are unable to commit to the above or your child has too many other activities, then we recommend that you wait until you are able to fully commit the the requirements of or swimming program.

We also will have very limited places for our Learn to Swim students as well so if your child is in Learn to Swim, please check carefully what is available.

SQUAD FEES -2024-25

LPS swimming fees are inoviced at the beginning of each term and payment is expected within 3 weeks of enrolment or issue of the invoice / statement.

Our only method of payment is by Credit/debit card via your customer portal / app.

Active Kids vouchers can be redeemed by yourself via the customer portal / app.
