P&C Welcome Morning Tea

P&C Welcome Morning Tea & Kindy Cheers ’n Tears for all LPS families – new and old

See you on Thursday 2 February 2017 from 9-11am, Lindfield Activity Centre (After-School-Care)

Meet representatives from the P&C and Sub-Committees. Find out about the wonderful activities our school has to offer, discover how you can get involved, meet new parents and catch up with old friends.

Everyone Welcome!

Goods and Services Tax (GST)

While the P&C is a not for profit organisation, we are required to be registered for GST. Due to the increasing size of our P&C activities, from Semester 2 we are obligated to include an amount for GST in our invoicing where applicable. While some of our goods and services are exempt from GST, e.g. canteen, learn to swim lessons and most fundraising, this is not the case for all the services that we offer.

What does this mean for you? If your child participates in an activity or you use a service that attracts GST, you will see a GST amount on your invoice.

We believe that the extracurricular programmes offered by our committees are enjoyed by the children, are great value for money (as costs are minimised due to the many volunteers that assist in the running of these programmes) and are of a high standard. In order to continue to offer these wonderful programmes we need to be able to recoup all of our costs.

On behalf of the P&C, I thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Tina Cabela
President

Escape to Africa

clip_image001[2]

Let the authentic acapella singing and dancing of the 100% hOPE Ugandan Choir take you away as they bring the rhythmic beats of Africa to Lindfield Public School Hall, 218 Pacific Highway Lindfield on Tuesday May 24 (BBQ from 5pm and performance from 6pm). Once struggling for survival on the streets of Mityana, these teenagers are now touring to raise funds for their new school to help them build hope and a future. Also meet the amazing hOPE founder, Aussie teacher Trishelle Sayunni who is now ‘mum’ to over 150 Ugandan children. Clear here to hear their story in brief on Ch 9 news.

Clean Up Australia Day and Aquathlon

What a buzz of activity we had here at school on Sunday! With the combined forces of our LEAF
committee and Sports committee, we hosted our annual Clean Up Australia Day and Aquathlon.
The LPS families and staff showed us what can be achieved when we come together as a community.
Carrying gloves, tools and rubbish bags, a steady stream of people signed in from 7:30 am to pick up
rubbish, perform general and some very heavy-duty gardening, clearing and cleaning. Some came for a couple of hours, some came for the whole day, but everyone came with an incredible amount of energy.
Not a minute was wasted, and the results speak for themselves – the grounds are looking spectacular
with many areas transformed.
A special thanks to our LEAF Convenors Sarah Burnett and Sandra Napoli who are both forces of
nature. Without these wonderful ladies, these working bees would not happen and their enthusiasm and passion for keeping our school beautiful cannot be underestimated. Thanks Ladies!!
Another huge thank you to Michele McCarthy and Lynne Sharp who put many hours of planning into
organising our amazing Aquathlon. There was a fantastic community buzz the whole day and the
smiling faces of all the children said it all.
Finally a huge thanks to the many people who played a key role in preparing for this fantastic community day and the hundreds of parents and children who came along and participated.
